Amhara Massacre in West Wollega by Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) militants
Update on June 18th, 2022 Amhara Massacre in the Tole Kebele, Gimbi Woreda, West Wollega Zone of Ethiopia’s Oromia Region by Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) militants.
The Amhara Association of America (AAA) has confirmed at least 503 Amhara civilians
were killed and identified 282 by name. Other organizations are reporting causalities could
be in the thousands.
On June 18th, 2022, Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) militants entered Tole Kebele (district) [Gimbi Woreda (district), West Wollega Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia] and opened fire on Amhara civilians in a nine hour long killing spree which spanned ten villages: The massacre lasted for nine hours from morning (8:00 a.m. local time) up to the late afternoon (5:00 p.m. local time) on June 18th, 2022. Heavy machine guns and machetes were used as weapons to kill people. First, the militants began shooting people and then used machetes to finish off victims whom they suspected had not died from the gunshots.
