Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers extrajudicially killed Dr. Tsegahun Sime in Bahir-Dar city

The Amhara Association of America (AAA) has learned that on February 3rd, 2026 Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers (regime forces) extrajudicially killed Dr. Tsegahun Sime in Bahir-Dar city (Amhara Region, Ethiopia).

The victim was reportedly a resident of Kebele 14 in Bahir-Dar city and an employee of the Amhara Region Health Bureau. According to reports, the victim was detained by regime forces that morning while commuting to work. After a search of his residence, he was taken to the Bezawit area of the city where he was later discovered deceased. According to reports, the victim’s family members were contacted from his personal mobile phone and told to collect his body.

In a statement released on February 4, 2026, the Amhara Region Health Bureau confirmed the death of Dr. Sime, attributing his death to an unexpected accident.

የአማራ ማኅበር በአሜሪካ በደረሰው መረጃ፣ በጥር 26 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም. የኦሮሞ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ አገዛዝ ወታደሮች (የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች) በባሕር ዳር ከተማ (አማራ ክልል፣ ኢትዮጵያ) ዶክተር ፀጋሁን ስሜን ያለ ፍርድ መግደላቸውን አረጋግጧል።

ሟች በባሕር ዳር ከተማ ቀበሌ 14 ነዋሪ ሲሆኑ በአማራ ክልል ጤና ቢሮ ተቀጥረው ይሰሩ እንደነበር ተገልጿል። እንደ ምንጮች ገለጻ፣ በእለቱ ሟች ዶክተር ጸጋሁን በጠዋት ወደ ሥራ በመሄድ ላይ በነበሩበት በአገዛዙ ኃይሎች ታፍነው ተወስደዋል። መኖሪያ ቤታቸውን ከፈተሹ በኋላ የአገዛዙ ወታደሮች ቤዛዊት ወደተባለ ስፍራ እንደወሰዷቸውና ከሰዓታት ቆይታ በኋላ አስከሬናቸው በዚያው መገኘቱን ምንጮች ጠቁመዋል። የሟች ቤተሰቦች ከሰአታት በኋላ በዶክተር ጸጋሁን የግል ስልክ ተደውሎ አስከሬን ውሰዱ መባላቸውን ምንጮች ገልጸዋል።

የአማራ ክልል ጤና ቢሮ ጥር 27 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም. ባወጣው የሀዘን መግለጫ፣የዶክተር ፀጋሁንን ሞት ያረጋገጠ ሲሆን፣ የህልፈታቸውም መንስኤ በድንገተኛ አደጋ" ሲል ገልጾታል።
