On July 7, 2023, Gumuz militants launched an attack on ethnic Amhara civilians in Gilgel Belese town (Mandura Woreda, Metekel Zone, Benishangul-Gumuz Region, Ethiopia). As a result of the attack, at least 13 Amhara civilians were killed & an additional 7 were injured.
