VOA Amharic - More Than 185,000 Students Will Not Sit for 8th Grade Examinations in Amhara Region

Today, Tuesday, more than 185,000 students who were supposed to sit for region-wide 8th grade examinations did not take the examinations due to the ongoing armed conflict in Amhara Region according to the regional education bureau.
The education bureau’s public relations officer Ato Getachew Beyazin told Voice of America, students in West, East and North Gojjam Zones will not sit for examinations since they either were not in school for the entire year or had their schooling interrupted.
Ato Getachew explained that efforts are underway to provide them with an alternative examination date in the upcoming month of Meskerem (September 2024) at which time they can take the examinations.
