Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers massacred at least seven civilians in Sali town of Lay-Gayint Woreda

Update – April 19, 2026 (Miyazia 11, 2018 EC)

The Amhara Association of America (AAA) has learned that on April 17, 2026 Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers (regime forces) massacred at least seven civilians in Sali town of Lay-Gayint Woreda (South Gonder Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia).

On the day of the incident fighting had taken place near Sali between Fano and regime forces, specifically police and militia personnel, resulting in casualties of multiple regime forces including an officer holding the title of Sergeant. Following this confrontation ENDF units were dispatched to Sali and these regime forces carried out a massacre on a group of civilians who were returning from the morning liturgy at the Sali-Balegziabher Church. Seven civilians were massacred including respected community members, prominent religious figures, farmers, and a local health worker.

የአማራ ማህበር በአሜሪካ (AAA) ባገኘው መረጃ መሰረት፤ ሚያዝያ 9 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም. የኦሮሞ ብልፅግና ፓርቲ አገዛዝ ወታደሮች በደቡብ ጎንደር ዞን፣ ላይ ጋይንት ወረዳ፣ ሳሊ ከተማ ውስጥ ቢያንስ ሰባት ንፁሃን ዜጎችን መግደላቸውን አረጋግጧል።

ግድያው በተፈጸመበት ዕለት በሳሊ ከተማ አቅራቢያ በፋኖ እና በአገዛዙ ኃይሎች (በተለይም በፖሊስና በሚሊሻ አባላት) መካከል ውጊያ ተካሂዶ ነበር። በዚህ ግጭት የሳጅን ማዕረግ ያለውን መኮንን ጨምሮ በርካታ የአገዛዙ ታጣቂዎች ተገድለዋል።

ከዚህ ግጭት በኋላ የአገዛዙ ወታደሮች (የኢፌዴሪ መከላከያ ሠራዊት) አባላት ወደ ሳሊ ከተማ የተላኩ ሲሆን፤ እነዚህ የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች ከሳሊ ባለእግዚአብሔር ቤተክርስቲያን ከማለዳው ቅዳሴ ወደ ቤታቸው በመመለስ ላይ በነበሩ ንፁሃን ዜጎች ላይ ጭፍጨፋ ፈጽመዋል። በዚህ አሰቃቂ ጥቃት የተከበሩ የማህበረሰብ መሪዎች፣ ታዋቂ የሃይማኖት አባቶች፣ ገበሬዎች እና የአካባቢው የጤና ባለሙያን ጨምሮ በትንሹ ሰባት ንፁሃን ህይወታቸውን አጥተዋል።
