The Federation of Amharas in North America (FANA) Condemns Abiy Ahmed Ali's Regime for Orchestrated Propaganda and Incitement of Violence Against Amhara Civilians

The Federation of Amharas in North America (FANA) strongly condemns the criminal regime of Abiy Ahmed Ali for engaging in a futile propaganda campaign aimed at inciting further violence against Amhara civilians in Ethiopia.

FANA has become aware of a video that has circulated on various telegram channels depicting a barbaric action that is consistent with many similar videos released victimizing civilian Amharas.

Forensic experts and social media analysts have identified this video as staged, confirming it is part of a broader smear campaign against Amhara FANO. This propaganda seeks to incite violence against Amhara civilians throughout Ethiopia.

The victim is identified as Amhara and kidnapped by one of the many secret squads of the regime. Abiy Ahmed is the current leader of the major crime groups "GACHENA SIRNA (ጋቼና ሲርና), HERPE (ሄርጴ), and SHENNEE (ሸኔ) in addition to the formal Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF- መከላከያ) that is engaged in genocidal war against Amhara people. These groups and the Oromo Special Force (OSF) are responsible for most of the crimes against humanity, such as kidnapping, looting, sexual violence, and violence against civilians and civilian Amhara infrastructures in Ethiopia. The alleged criminal activity took place in Northern Shewa, where the Oromo Special Forces have repeatedly committed war crimes against civilians.

While under torture, the victim identified himself as being non-Oromo, further revealing the staged murder to create a chasm between Amhara and Oromo people and incite violence on Amhara civilians living in the Oromia Region.

The Federal Government Spokesperson, Legesse Tulu, and the Oromia Regional Communications Office Director, Ato Hailu Adugna, rushed to publicly accuse Fano of this crime without conducting any investigation, making it evident that the Oromo Prosperity regime orchestrated this act to incite violence against the Amhara community living in the Oromia Region. This baseless blame on Fano—and, by implication, the Amhara people—is eerily reminiscent of how Hutu officials in Rwanda falsely accused Tutsis of killing the Rwandan president, sparking the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Such reckless and inflammatory rhetoric risks exacerbating ethnic tensions and inciting mass atrocities.

This irresponsible and deliberate incitement has already led to tragic consequences. Reports indicate that over 10 Amhara civilians have been massacred in the Hararge Haremaya Dungo district of the Oromia region within the past 48 hours due to the regime’s inflammatory propaganda against the Amhara people.

Since Abiy Ahmed Ali came to power, he has engaged in large-scale massacres of civilians throughout Ethiopia, such as the open massacre of civilian Amharas, Gamos, Gurages, Guggies, Afars, Somalis, Gambellans, and even Oromos with neutral or opposing views.

The massacre of civilians has escalated to epidemic proportions, culminating in the ongoing 18-month genocidal war against the Amhara people.

We assert the truth of the above statement from various reliable sources.

The Federation of Amharas in North America (FANA) calls for an independent investigation into the kidnappings and massacres of civilians across Ethiopia, particularly the widespread and egregious human rights violations perpetrated by the regime of Abiy Ahmed Ali against the Amhara people.

FANA requests donor countries, in particular the United States, Canada, China, Russia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, to withhold all military and financial support that is enabling the regime to wage war on its civilian citizens.
