Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers killed a priest and critically injured his son in Andasa Kebele of Bahir-Dar-Zuriya Woreda

The Amhara Association of America (AAA) has learned that on February 6, 2026 Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers (regime forces) killed a priest (a civilian) and critically injured his son in Andasa Kebele of Bahir-Dar-Zuriya Woreda (North Gojjam Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia).
The deceased was identified as Qesis Sharew Ambelu, a priest who served at Andasa St. George’s Church. Prior to the incident, the priest’s son had reportedly been detained by regime forces. The priest had gone to a detention area to check on his son, who was being held by the regime forces. Upon witnessing a soldier stabbing his son, the priest attempted to intervene, but regime forces struck him in the head with a blunt weapon, resulting in his death. The priest’s son was severely wounded as a result of the attack.

የአማራ ማህበር በአሜሪካ በደረሰው መረጃ፤ በቀን 29 ጥር 2018 ዓ.ም. የኦሮሞ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ አገዛዝ ወታደሮች (የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች) በባሕር ዳር ዙሪያ ወረዳ፣ አንዳሳ ቀበሌ (ሰሜን ጎጃም ዞን፣ አማራ ክልል፣ ኢትዮጵያ) አንድ ካህን መግደላቸውን እና ልጃቸው ላይ ከባድ ጉዳት ማድረሳቸውን ተረድቷል።
እንደ ምንጮች ገለጻ፣ ሟች ቀሲስ ሻረው አምበሉ የሚባሉ ሲሆን፣ በአንዳሳ ቅዱስ ጊዮርጊስ ቤተክርስቲያን አገልጋይ ካህን ነበሩ። ድርጊቱ ከተፈጸመበት ዕለት ቀደም ብሎ፣ የካህኑ ልጅ በአገዛዙ ወታደሮች ታስሮ የነበረ ሲሆን፣ የታሰረውን ልጃቸውን ለመጠየቅ ወደ ማቆያ ስፍራ አቅንተው ነበር። በዚያም አንድ ወታደር ልጃቸውን በጩቤ ሲወጋው በመመልከታቸው ጣልቃ ለመግባት ሲሞክሩ የአገዛዙ ወታደሮች በፍልጥ እንጨት ጭንቅላታቸውን ደጋግመው በመምታት ገድለዋቸዋል። የካህኑ ልጅም በወታደሮች በተፈጸመበት ጥቃት ከባድ ጉዳት እንደደረሰበት ከምንጮች መረዳት ተችሏል።
