At least three civilians were killed and several others were injured in separate deadly incidents in Alamata city

The Amhara Association of America (AAA) has learned that between July 28th and 29th, 2025 at least three civilians were killed and several others were injured in separate deadly incidents in Alamata city (North Wollo Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia).

In the first incident on July 29th, a civilian named Kiros Ayenew, a 65-year-old father of six and a local farmer who also worked as a part-time security guard, was killed by Tigray Region Forces. The attack was carried out at approximately 11 pm in the Shed area, in close proximity to a camp reportedly used by TPLF militants. According to eyewitnesses, the assailants were overheard speaking Tigrigna. Residents believe the motive may have been robbery, as the perpetrators appeared to have attempted to loot the victim’s property following the attack.

In the second incident on the night of July 28th, suspected TPLF militants targeted the residence of a local resident identified as Ato Solomon Ayalew in Kebele 04. The assailants launched an attack on the residence and prompting Ato Solomon to attempt to defend himself leading to a gunfire exchange. In response, the assailants detonated an explosive leading to civilian casualties and property damages. As a result of the attack, Ato Solomon’s 17-year-old daughter Yeabsira Solomon and his 7-year-old son were killed. In addition, Ato Solomon himself, his wife and other family members sustained injuries. The family members who sustained critical injuries were admitted to Mekelle Hospital. Sources allege the attack on Ato Solomon was targeted and tied to internal conflicts within the TPLF. Specifically, sources allege the TPLF faction led by TPLF Chairman Debretsion Gebremichael targeted Ato Solomon due to his alleged ties with the TPLF faction led by Minister Advisor for East African Affairs and former Tigray Interim Regional Administration President Getachew Reda.

These incidents form part of a wider and ongoing pattern of violence in Alamata city and surrounding areas, where civilians continue to face life-threatening conditions. Despite the presence of federal forces, the lack of adequate protection and accountability remains a critical issue. Local communities are increasingly expressing deep concern over the deteriorating security situation, calling for immediate investigations and effective intervention to restore safety and uphold the rule of law.

የአማራ ማህበር በአሜሪካ ባደረገው ማጣራት ከሐምሌ 21 እስከ 22 ቀን 2017 ዓ.ም በአላማጣ ከተማ (በሰሜን ወሎ ዞን፣ አማራ ክልል፣ ኢትዮጵያ) በትንሹ ሶስት ሰላማዊ ሰዎች መሞታቸውንና በርካቶች መቁሰላቸውን አረጋግጧል።

ሐምሌ 22 ቀን 2017 ዓ.ም በተፈጠረው የመጀመሪያ ክሰተት የ65 ዓመት አዛውንት፤ የስድስት ልጆች አባት እና የአካባቢው አርሶ አደር አቶ ኪሮስ አየነው የተባሉ ሲቪል በትግራይ ክልል ሃይሎች (የትሕነግ ሃይሎች) ተገድለዋል። ጥቃቱ የተፈፀመው ከምሽቱ አምስት ሰአት ላይ ሸድ አካባቢ ሲሆን የትሕነግ ታጣቂዎች ይገለገሉበት ከነበረው ካምፕ ቅርብ ነው። እንደ የአይን እማኞች ገለጻ ከሆነ አጥቂዎቹ ግድያውን በሚፈጽሙበት ሰአት ትግርኛ ይናገሩ እንደነበር ታውቋል። ወንጀለኞቹ ይህንን የፈጸሙት ግድያውን ተከትሎ የተጎጂውን ንብረት ለመዝረፍ ሊሆን ይችላል ተብሏል።

ሁለተኛው ክስተት ደግሞ ሐምሌ 21 ቀን 2017 ዓ.ም ሌሊት ላይ የደረሰ ሲሆን የትሕነግ ታጣቂዎች በቀበሌ 04 በሚገኘው አቶ ሰለሞን አያሌው በተባለው የአካባቢው ነዋሪ መኖሪያ ቤት ላይ ያነጣጠረ ጥቃት የፈጸሙ ሲሆን አቶ ሰለሞን ራሳቸውን ለመከላከል ሙከራ በማድረግ የተኩስ ልውውጥ ማድረጋቸው ታውቋል። በምላሹም አጥቂዎቹ ፈንጂ በማፈንዳት በሰላማዊ ሰዎች ላይ ጉዳት እና የንብረት ውድመት አድርሰዋል። በጥቃቱ ምክንያት የአቶ ሰለሞን የ17 አመት ሴት ልጅ የዓብስራ ሰለሞን እና የ7 አመት ወንድ ልጃቸው ተገድለዋል። በተጨማሪም አቶ ሰለሞን ራሳቸው፣ ባለቤታቸውና ሌሎች ቤተሰቦቻቸው ላይ ጉዳት ደርሶባቸዋል። ከባድ ጉዳት የደረሰባቸው ቤተሰቦች መቀሌ ሆስፒታል እንደገቡ ታውቋል። በአቶ ሰለሞን ላይ የተፈፀመው ጥቃት ከትሕነግ ውስጣዊ ግጭቶች ጋር የተያያዘ መሆኑን ምንጮች ገልፀዋል። በተለይም ይህንን ጥቃት በትሕነጉ ሊቀመንበር ደብረፂዮን ገብረሚካኤል የሚመራው የትሕነግ ቡድን በአቶ ሰለሞን ላይ ሊፈጽመው እንደሚችል በመጠቆም ይህም አቶ ሰለሞን የምስራቅ አፍሪካ ጉዳዮች ሚኒስትር አማካሪ ከሆኑት እና በቀድሞ የትግራይ ጊዜያዊ አስተዳደር ፕሬዝዳንት ከነበሩት አቶ ጌታቸው ረዳ ከሚመራው የትሕነግ ቡድን ጋር ግንኙነት አለው በሚል ምክንያት መሆኑን ምንጮች ይገልጻሉ።

እነዚህ ክስተቶች በአላማጣ ከተማ እና አካባቢው እየታየ ያለው የጥቃት አካል ሲሆኑ ሰላማዊ ዜጎች ለሕይወት አስጊ የሆኑ ሁኔታዎች እየተጋፈጡ ይገኛሉ። የፌደራል ሃይሎች በአካባቢው ቢኖሩም በቂ ጥበቃና ተጠያቂነት አለመኖሩ አሁንም አሳሳቢ ጉዳይ ነው። የአካባቢው ማህበረሰቦች የፀጥታው ሁኔታ እያሽቆለቆለ መምጣቱን በመግለጽ አፋጣኝ ምርመራ እና ውጤታማ ጣልቃ ገብነት በማድረግ ደህንነቱን ወደነበረበት እንዲመለስ እና የህግ የበላይነት እንዲከበር እየጠየቁ ነው።
