The Amhara Association of America (AAA) has learned that on October 7th, 2025 a young woman was found dead following a suspected assault in Dessie city (South Wollo Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia).
The victim was identified as Liza Desale, who was reportedly raped and subsequently killed manner. The victim was a college student in Dessie city, who was originally from Kobo city. According to sources, she had gone to the Piazza area of the city earlier on the day of the incident to have her mobile phone repaired. She later informed a friend that she was on her way home, but soon after, communication with her was lost. Later that evening, her body was discovered near Buambua-Wuha at 9:10 pm. Preliminary investigations revealed she had been raped and violently murdered, with multiple stab wounds inflicted by a sharp object, possibly a knife.
As of October 12th, the identity of the perpetrators remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. However, public outcry is growing, with community members, students, and human rights advocates calling for an immediate and transparent investigation, justice and accountability for the victim, and increased protection for women and girls, particularly in urban areas affected by instability.

የአማራ ማህበር በአሜሪካ (አአአ) ባደረገው ማጣራት መስከረም 27 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም በደሴ ከተማ (ደቡብ ወሎ ዞን፤ በአማራ ክልል፤ ኢትዮጵያ) በተፈጸመ ጥቃት አንዲት ወጣት ሴት መሞቷ ታውቋል።
ተጎጂዋ ሊዛ ደሳለ የምትባል ስትሆን ከተደፈረች በኋላ በአሰቃቂ ሁኔታ ተገድላለች ። ተጎጂዋ በደሴ ከተማ የኮሌጅ ተማሪ የነበረች ስትሆን የቆቦ ከተማ ተወላጅ ናት። እንደ ምንጮች ገለጻ ከሆነ ሞባይል ስልኳን ለማስጠገን ቀደም ብሎ በከተማዋ ፒያሳ አካባቢ ሄዳ ነበር። በኋላ ወደ ቤት እየሄደች እንደሆነ ለጓደኛዋ አሳውቃ የነበረ ቢሆንም ብዙም ሳትቆይ ግን ከእሷ ጋር ግንኙነቷ ተቋርጧል። በዚያው ምሽት ከምሽቱ 3፡10 አካባቢ አስከሬኗ በቧምቧ ውሃ አቅራቢያ ተገኘ። የመጀመሪያ ደረጃ ምርመራዎች መደፈሯን፤ በኃይል መገደሏን እና የሰውነት ክፍሎቿ በቢለዋ በተደጋጋሚ ተወግቶ እንደነበር አረጋግጠዋል።
እስከ ኦክቶበር 12 ድረስ ወንጀለኞቹ እነማን እንደሆኑ ያልታወቁ ሲሆን በቁጥጥር ስር የዋለም የለም፡፡ ሆኖም ህዝባዊ እምቢተኝነቱ እየጨመረ ሲሆን የህብረተሰቡ አባላት፣ ተማሪዎች እና የሰብአዊ መብት ተሟጋቾች አፋጣኝ እና ግልጽነት ያለው ምርመራ እንዲደረግ፣ ለተጎጂዋ ፍትህ እና ተጠያቂነት እንዲሰፍን እንዲሁም የሴቶች እና ልጃገረዶች ጥበቃ በተለይም አለመረጋጋት በተከሰተባቸው የከተማ አካባቢዎች እንዲጨምር ጠይቀዋል።
