Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers carried out targeted killings of civilians in separate incidents across Ankesha-Guagusa, Zigem and Banja Woredas

The Amhara Association of America (AAA) has learned that between June 9^th and 14^th, 2026 Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers (regime forces) carried out targeted killings of civilians in separate incidents across Ankesha-Guagusa, Zigem and Banja Woredas (Awi Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia).

The first incident occurred on June 9^th when regime forces shot and killed a young man identified as Chalachew Teshale Wale in Gimjabet town (Ankesha-Guagusa Woreda). The attack was carried out in the evening hours by regime militias which targeted the victim using a firearm while the deceased was out purchasing candles for his mother. Following the killing, residents expressed widespread anger, leading regime authorities to apprehend the perpetrator. While in custody the perpetrator claimed he acted in response to an attempt to take away his firearm which forced him to shoot the victim.

The remaining incidents all occurred on June 14^th when regime forces, specifically militias, targeted civilians in multiple areas of Zigem and Banja Woredas. The second incident occurred in Kilaj Kebele (Zigem Woreda) where regime forces killed a civilian identified as Agegnehu (last name unknown). The third incident occurred in the Nana-Chibili-Addise locality (Zigem Woreda) where regime forces killed another victim identified as Getahun Ali. And the fourth incident occurred in Qidamaja Kebele (Banja Woreda) where regime forces killed a youth identified as Addisu Birle. 

The successive killings led to anger among locals, who claimed the killings were identity-based, targeting members of the Agew community. Following the killings, a public protest erupted in Qidamaja on June 15^th, during which residents gathered to denounce the actions of regime forces and the regional administration.

የአማራ ማህበር በአሜሪካ በደረሰው መረጃ መሠረት፥ ከሰኔ 2 እስከ 7 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም. ባለው ጊዜ ውስጥ የኦሮሞ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ ወታደሮች (የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች) በአንከሻ ጓጉሳ፣ በዚገምና በባንጃ ወረዳዎች (አዊ ዞን፣ አማራ ክልል፣ ኢትዮጵያ) በተለያዩ ክስተቶች በንጹሀን ላይ ያነጣጠረ ግድያ ፈጽመዋል።

የመጀመሪያው ድርጊት የተፈጸመው በሰኔ 2 ቀን ሲሆን፥ የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች በግምጃቤት ከተማ (አንከሻ ጓጉሳ ወረዳ) ቻላቸው ተሻለ ዋለ የተባለውን ወጣት ተኩሰው ገድለውታል። ጥቃቱ የተፈጸመው በእለቱ ምሽት ላይ ሲሆን፣ የአገዛዙ ሚሊሻዎች ሟች ለወላጅ እናቱ ሻማ ለመግዛት በወጣበት በጥይት መተው ገድለውታል። ግድያው የአካባቢው ነዋሪዎችን አስቆጥቶ የነበረ ሲሆን፣ ይህም አገዛዙ ጥቃት ፈጻሚውን በቁጥጥር ስር እንዲያውሉ አስገድዷቸዋል። ገዳዩ በምርመራ ወቅት በሰጠው ቃል ድርጊቱን የፈጸምኩት ሟች ትጥቄን ሊነጥቅ ሲሞክር በወሰድኩት የመከላከል እርምጃ ነው ሲል ገልጿል።

ቀሪዎቹ ጥቃቶች የተፈጸሙት ሰኔ 7 ቀን 2018 ሲሆን፥ በእለቱ የአገዛዙ ሚሊሻዎች በዚገምና ባንጃ ወረዳዎች በፈጸሙት ጥቃት ተጨማሪ ሶስት ንጹሀን ተገድለዋል።

በቅላጅ ቀበሌ (ዚገም ወረዳ) በተፈጸመ ጥቃት፣ የአገዛዙ ሚሊሻ አገኘሁ የተባለ (የአባቱ ስም ያልታወቀ) ሰላማዊ ሰው ገድለዋል።

ሦስተኛው ድርጊት በናና ቺቢሊ አዲሴ አካባቢ (ዚገም ወረዳ) የተፈጸመ ሲሆን፥ የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች ጌታሁን ዓሊ የተባለ ሌላ ንጹሀን ገድለዋል።

አራተኛው ድርጊት ደግሞ በቅዳማጃ ቀበሌ (ባንጃ ወረዳ) የተፈጸመ ሲሆን፥ የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች አዲሱ ብርሌ የተባለ ወጣት ገድለዋል።

እነዚህ ተከታታይ የንጹሀን ግድያዎች በአካባቢው ነዋሪዎች ዘንድ ከፍተኛ ቁጣን የቀሰቀሱ ሲሆን፥ ነዋሪዎቹ ግድያዎቹ በማንነት ላይ ያተኮሩ እና የአገው ማህበረሰብ አባላት ላይ ያነጣጠሩ መሆናቸውን ገልጸዋል። ጥቃቶቹን ተከትሎ ሰኔ 8 ቀን በቅዳማጃ ቀበሌ ህዝባዊ ተቃውሞ የተቀሰቀሰ ሲሆን፥ በዚህም ነዋሪዎች አደባባይ ወጥተው ድርጊቱን በማውገዝ በአገዛዙ ኃይሎች እና በክልሉ አስተዳደር ላይ ተቃውሟቸውን አሰምተዋል።
