Summary of Amhara War Updates for November 2025

Between November 1st and 30th, 2025, AWU recorded battle events and human rights incidents across 101 distinct woreda/city administrations in 17 zonal administrations in 3 regions (Amhara, Oromia and Benishangul-Gumuz Regions).


The month of November marked intense fighting with significant military casualties and shifting control in several strategic areas. This month involved military operations both from the Fano and the Oromo Prosperity Party (OPP) regime's joint armed forces.


Over the reporting period, AWU reported 180 battle events across 85 woreda/city administrations in 15 zonal administrations across 3 regions (Amhara, Oromia and Benishangul-Gumuz Regions) resulting in 2,555 regime casualties and 80 Fano casualties.

Over the reporting period, AWU reported 69 human rights incidents across 46 woreda/city administrations in 16 zonal administrations across 3 regions (Amhara, Oromia, and Benishangul-Gumuz Regions) resulting in:

  • 165 civilians killed;

  • 31 civilians injured;

  • 7 case of CRSV/SGBV;

  • 187 abductions and

  • 35 arrests.

While the majority of human rights incidents implicated OPP regime forces, other perpetrators included Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) forces, Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) forces, Qemant militants, and unknown militants.
