Summary of Amhara War Updates for February 2026

Overview

Between February 1 to 28, 2026 AWU recorded battle events and human rights incidents across 94 distinct woreda/city administrations in 17 zonal administrations in 4 regions (Amhara, Oromia, Benishangul-Gumuz and Addis-Ababa).

The month of February 2026 marked intense fighting with significant military casualties and shifting control in several strategic areas. This month involved military operations both from the Fano and the Oromo Prosperity Party (OPP) regime's joint armed forces.

Over the reporting period, AWU recorded 171 battle events across 80 woreda/city administrations in 14 zonal administrations across 3 regions (Amhara, Oromia and Benishangul-Gumuz Regions) resulting in 2944 regime casualties and 53 Fano casualties.

Over the reporting period, AWU recorded 60 human rights incidents across 41 woreda/city administrations in 14 zonal administrations across 3 regions (Addis-Ababa, Amhara and Oromia Regions) resulting in:

• 157 civilians killed;

• 102 civilians injured;

• 1 SGBV/CRSV victims;

• 71 abductions and

• 599 arrests.

AWU also recorded 72 drone/air strikes across 9 woreda/city administrations in 6 zonal administrations which accounted for 17 civilian deaths and 20 civilian injuries.

While the majority of human rights incidents implicated OPP regime forces, other perpetrators included Tigray People's Liberation Front, Oromo Liberation Army and Geda Commando Forces.

ከጥር 24 እስከ የካቲት 21 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም. (ፌብሩወሪ 1 እስከ 28፣ 2026) በ94 የተለያዩ ወረዳዎች/ከተማ አስተዳደሮች በ17 የዞን አስተዳደሮች (አማራ፣ ኦሮሚያ፣ ቤኒሻንጉል-ጉሙዝ እና አዲስ-አበባ ክልሎች) ውስጥ የተለያዩ ውጊያዎች እና የሰብአዊ መብት ጥሰቶች ተመዝግበዋል።

በፈረንጆች ፌብሩወሪ 2026 ወር በተለያዩ ወሳኝ አካባቢዎች ከፍተኛ ወታደራዊ ጉዳት የደረሰባቸው እና የቁጥጥር ሚዛን ለውጥ የተደረጉባቸው ውጊያዎች ተካሔደዋል። በዚህ ወር የአማራ ፋኖ ራስን የመከላከያ ኀይል ከኦሮሞ ብልጽግና ፖርቲ አገዛዝ ጥምር ኀይሎች ጋር ሰፊ ውጊያዎችን አድርገዋል።

ዘገባው በተሰራበት ጊዜ ውስጥ በ80 ወረዳ/ከተማ አስተዳደሮች በ14 የዞን አስተዳደሮች ውስጥ (አማራ፣ ኦሮሚያ እና ቤኒሻንጉል-ጉሙዝ ክልሎች) የተካሄዱ 171 ውጊያዎች ተመዝግበዋል። በዚኽም 2944 የአገዛዙ ኀይል አባላት ጉዳት ደርሶባቸዋል እና 53 የፋኖ አባላት ጉዳት የደረሰባቸው ተመዝግበዋል።

ዘገባው በተሰራበት ጊዜ ውስጥ በ41 ወረዳ/ከተማ አስተዳደሮች በ14 የዞን አስተዳደሮች በ3 ክልሎች (አዲስ-አበባ፣ አማራ እና ኦሮሚያ ክልሎች) 60 የሰብአዊ መብት ረገጣዎች ተመዝግበዋል። በዚኽም

• 157 ሰላማዊ ሰዎች ተገድለዋል፤

• 102 ሰላማዊ ሰዎች ቆስለዋል፤

• 1 ጾታዊ እና ጾታን መሰረት ያደረጉ ጥቃቶች ሰለባዎች፤

• 71 እገታዎች እና

• 599 እስራቶች ተመዝግበዋል።

በ6 ዞኖች በሚገኙ 9 ወረዳዎች/ከተማ አስተዳደሮች 72 ሰው አልባ አውሮፕላኖች በአየር ድብደባ በፈጸሙት ጥቃት ለ17 ሰዎች ሞት እና 20 ሰላማዊ ሰዎች ቆስለዋል።

በርካታዎቹ የሰብአዊ መብት ረገጣዎች በኦሮሞ ብልጽግና አገዛዝ ኀይሎች የተፈጸሙ ሲሆን የተወሰኑት ወንጀሎች በትግራይ ሕዝብ ነጻ አውጪ ግንባር፣ ኦሮሞ ነጻነት ሰራዊት እና ገዳ ኮማንዶ ሃይሎች ተፈጽመዋል።
