VOA Amharic - Militants carried out an attack in Nono Woreda killing 12 people according to residents

Last Monday, an attack on Silkamba town of Nono Woreda in West Shewa Zone resulted in 12 people killed, say residents. A resident of Silkamba who opted for anonymity out of concern for their safety said the majority of the killed victims were Amhara by ethnicity.
Residents accused Oromo Liberation Army militants of carrying out the attack and added that the militants burned down 60 residential houses and stole more than 100 cattle. The Oromo Liberation Army responded by rejecting the accusation claiming “such acts are carried out by the government”.
Efforts to contact the Oromia Regional Government Communications Bureau for comment were unsuccessful. The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission on its end says it received information of 11 people being killed in Silkamba town.
