On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the Amhara Association of America (AAA) held a Zoom Webinar briefing with supporters to discuss advocacy updates and the path forward. The presentation was preceded by remarks with Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa (SEHOA) Ambassador Mike Hammer. After the SEHOA's remarks, congressional candidate Jason Call (WA-02; Green Party) spoke briefly followed by the presentation from the AAA team and AAA's lobbyists. Presenting were AAA Chairman Tewodrose Tirfe, AAA Communications Director Robel Alemu, AAA Community Engagement Director Rediet Tefera, and Directors of Government Relations at Lobbyit Cameron Wheeler and Jonathan Taylor. The presentation from AAA's team covered a recap of 2022 advocacy accomplishments, highlights of meetings with congress and state in 2023, review of western media appearances and interviews, review of engagement with international human rights organizations, and challenges and the path forward for Amhara advocacy.
