Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers carried out deadly attacks on civilians in separate incidents in Kobo City and Sasit Town

The Amhara Association of America (AAA) has learned that between September 15th and 17th, 2026 Oromo Prosperity Party regime soldiers (regime forces) carried out deadly attacks on civilians in separate incidents in Kobo City (North Wollo Zone) and Sasit Town (North Shewa Zone) in Amhara Region of Ethiopia.
The first incident occurred on September 15th, when regime forces killed 52-year-old EOTC priest Liqe-Mezemiran Kidane-Mariam Hulumyifer in Sasit (Mojana-Wadera District, North Shewa Zone). The incident occurred after the priest had concluded religious service and while he was still within the church compound. The regime forces confronted the clergyman and questioned him before shooting him with at least 13 bullets, killing him at the scene.
The second incident occurred on September 17th, when regime forces carried out a deadly attack on a family traveling in the “John Kurt Bet” area of Kobo City (North Wollo Zone). At the time of the attack, a man named Assefa Eyassie was driving his wife and six-month-old child aboard a small “Tata” truck. While the vehicle was stopped at a crosswalk in the area, regime forces ordered Assefa to provide them with transportation. When Assefa attempted to explain that he was transporting his wife and infant the regime forces responded by shooting him in the head. Following this, Assefa lost control of the vehicle which subsequently overturned. The incident caused severe injuries to both his wife and their six-month-old child. The injured family members were subsequently transported to a nearby city for medical treatment. The late Assefa had been living and working in Saudi Arabia as a migrant worker and had returned to Ethiopia only three days before the incident. Sources also stated that the vehicle he was driving belonged to a friend. The incident has heightened concerns among residents regarding the safety of civilians in Kobo and surrounding areas. Incidents involving violence against civilians by regime forces have continued to occur in the area, contributing to growing concerns about the protection of civilians amid the ongoing conflict.

የአማራ ማህበር በአሜሪካ (AAA) ከመስከረም 5 እስከ መስከረም 7 ቀን 2019 ዓ.ም. ባለው ጊዜ ውስጥ የኦሮሞ ብልፅግና ፓርቲ አገዛዝ ወታደሮች (የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች) በኢትዮጵያ በአማራ ክልል በቆቦ ከተማ (ሰሜን ወሎ ዞን) እና በሳሲት ከተማ (ሰሜን ሽዋ ዞን) በተለያዩ አጋጣሚዎች በንጹሐን ዜጎች ላይ ጥቃት መፈጸማቸውን አረጋግጧል።
የመጀመሪያው ግድያ የተፈፀመው መስከረም 5 ቀን 2019 ዓ.ም. ሲሆን በአገዛዙ ኃይሎች ዕድሜያቸው 52 አመት የሆኑትን የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ቤተክርስቲያን ካህን ሊቀ መዘምራን ኪዳነ ማርያም ሁሉንምይፍርን በሳሲት (ሞጃና ወደራ ወረዳ፣ ሰሜን ሽዋ ዞን) ተገድለዋል። ግድያው የተከሰተው ካህኑ መንፈሳዊ አገልግሎታቸውን አጠናቀው በቤተ ክርስቲያኑ ቅጥር ግቢ ውስጥ እያሉ ነበር። የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች ወደ ካህኑ ቀርበው ጥያቄ ካቀረቡላቸው በኋላ ቢያንስ 13 ጥይቶችን በመተኮስ አካባቢው ውስጥ ገድለዋቸዋል።
ሁለተኛው ግድያ የተፈፀመው መስከረም 7 ቀን 2019 ዓ.ም. የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች በቆቦ ከተማ (ሰሜን ወሎ ዞን) “ጆን ቁርጥ ቤት” ተብሎ በሚጠራው አካባቢ በሞተር ተሽከርካሪ ይጓዙ በነበሩ የአንድ ቤተሰብ አባላት ላይ የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች ጥቃት በፈጸሙበት ወቅት ነው። በጥቃቱ ወቅት አሰፋ እያሴ የተባሉ አባት ባለቤታቸውን እና የስድስት ወር ሕፃን ልጃቸውን በትንሿ “ታታ” የጭነት መኪና ጭነው እየነዱ ነበር። መኪናው በአካባቢው ባለ የእግረኞች መሻገሪያ ላይ ቆሞ እያለ የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች አሰፋ የትራንስፖርት አገልግሎት እንዲሰጣቸው አዘዙት። አሰፋ ባለቤታቸውንና ሕፃን ልጃቸውን እያጓጓዘ መሆኑን ለማስረዳት ሲሞክር የአገዛዙ ኃይሎች በአሰፋ ላይ በመተኮስ ምላሽ ሰጥተዋል። ከዚህ በኋላ አሰፋ የመኪናውን ቁጥጥር (ፍሬን) መያዝ ስላልቻለ መኪናው ተገልብጧል። አደጋው በባለቤቱ እና በስድስት ወር ሕፃን ልጃቸው ላይ ከባድ ጉዳት አድርሷል። የተጎዱት የቤተሰብ አባላት ለሕክምና ወደ አቅራቢያው ከተማ ተወስደዋል። አባታቸው አሰፋ በሳውዲ አረቢያ በስደት ይኖሩና ይሠሩ የነበረ ሲሆን ከድርጊቱ ከሦስት ቀናት በፊት ብቻ ነበር ወደ ኢትዮጵያ የተመለሱት። ምንጮች እንደገለጹት እሳቸው ሲነዱት የነበረው መኪና የጓደኛቸው ነበር። ይህ ድርጊት በቆቦ እና በአካባቢው በሚኖሩ ነዋሪዎች ዘንድ በንጹሐን ዜጎች ደኅንነት ላይ ያለውን ሥጋት አብሷል። በአገዛዙ ኃይሎች በንጹሐን ዜጎች ላይ የሚፈጸሙ ኃይሎች በአካባቢው መቀጠላቸው፣ በተካሄደው ግጭት ውስጥ ንጹሐን ዜጎችን የመጠበቅ አቅጣጫ ላይ እያደገ ለመጣው ሥጋት አስተዋጽኦ አድርጓል።
